FAQs

I am shopping online on an overseas based brand’s website and all the prices are shown in Australian dollars. Will I be charged a conversion or transaction fee?

Yes, an International Transaction fee of 3% applies for the following transactions or reversals:

  • Transactions or reversals made in a foreign currency.
  • Transactions or reversals with a merchant or financial institution based overseas. For example, an online retailer displays prices in Australian dollars, but is based overseas or uses an overseas financial institution to process transactions.

It’s important to be aware that it may not always be apparent that the merchant or entity processing the transaction is located outside of Australia.
